Academic Degrees

Graduation in Economics by Instituto Superior de Economia of the UTL (Technical University of Lisbon), in 1974. PhD. in Economics by ISEG (School of Economics and Management, UTL) in 1988. Aggregation in Economics by ISEG, 2000.

Current Professional Activity

Professor of Macroeconomics in ISEG 1st. year Graduation, awaits the conclusion of the retirement process. Researcher in SOCIUS (Research Center in Economic and Organizational Sociology) since 2006. Member of the EERA - European Education Research Association since 2004. Member of the board of APEM – Portuguese Association on Gender Studies.

Domains of Research

Work and Employment – school-to-employment transition; youth and graduate unemployment; gender relations; Education and Training – lifelong learning, academic failure determinants (an integrative approach), pedagogical innovation (Higher Education); Regulation and Education: education as a regulator under globalization; crisis and public education viability.
